Mrs. Nesbitt’s ABC-Wednesday

Round 20-P

My 140th entry – bijdrage

Started-Gestart: 28-08-2014 : 15-G

Hello and good morning, -afternoon, -evening, dear people who all participate is this wonderful photo-meme, which is a joy to me, week after week, after week. I’m always curious to what you come up with!

The challenging letter of this week is and I’ve chosen for the word: Please

… A word we all use, some more, some less, but still part of our everyday language.

I could ‘please‘ you for a lot of questions and things I feel strongly about… but today I just want to say ‘please‘ for one thing.

As  you all know by now, I hope, this version of ABC-Wednesday will end in 10 weeks from now. The last week ends on july 12th.

My ‘please‘ to you is:
Check out the new url: https://abcwednesday.wordpress.com/ and tell me what you would like for the new version of ABC-Wednesday.
Is there anything you would like to change? Do you think anything unnecessary? Are you missing something?
Whatever you think about it and would want for ABC- Wednesday, regardless if it is possible or not…

Please… tell me???

Have a nice ABC-Wednesday-day / – week ~

My 139th entry – bijdrage

Started-Gestart: 28-08-2014 : 15-G

Hello and good morning, -afternoon, -evening, dear people who all participate is this wonderful photo-meme, which is a joy to me, week after week, after week. I’m always curious to what you come up with!

The challenging letter of this week is O and I’ve chosen for the word: Once (…upon)

Once upon… A phrase which often leads to the rest of a sentence in which people explain what they are dreaming of. Things they want to do when the ‘right’ time has come or when there is ‘enough money’ or when other conditions are totally right.  For example those hings we all have on our, short or long wish-lists / bucket-lists.  No matter if those things ever will become  feasible.

Let me share with you the top three on my list and would you do me the pleasure of sharing your top three with me?  You may choose for the feasible ones ore your utmost top three.  I choose my utmost top three, feasible or not.  Let us just dream like anything is possible. Let us live like anything is possible, right now, right here. We don’t live in het future, we live now, don’t we?

  • to get a totally reneweg body & mind ===> 100% healthy
  • to start an animal shelter
  • to fly in – & photograph from – an air balloon

So we are in the MIDDLE of that alfabet of round 20. That also means that we have 13 letters left to go before we reach the final end of ABC-Wednesday in the way we all came to discover, learn and love it.

Today in exactly 14 weeks, I sincerely and intense hope to may welcome you all in the 21rst beginning of the new ABC-Wednesday on its new location at WordPress, were we hopefully all will be witness of many ‘beginnings, middles and ends’.

Hello and good morning, -afternoon, -evening, dear people who all participate is this wonderful photo-meme, which is a joy to me, week after week, after week. I’m always curious to what you come up with!

The challenging letter of this week is L and I’ve chosen for: Language

When I was a little girl I had to learn to read and at primary school in those days we used wooden bords like you see on the photo. Although I from an early age loved language I had a lot of difficulties at first. I was brought up in a dialect which looks and sounds very similar to the German language in stead of the Dutch one. I can remember that, although very young still, I’ve decided that if I ever would have children of my own, I would teach them the Dutch language from day one and not our dialect to prevent them form encountering the same problems I did.

Some years later at High school I got German, French and English.  All the languages that were given I took. I oftend begged to get more but no there were 4 and that was it. In those days we had to do the final exams in 6  subject so besides those 4 languages I had to choose 2 others, which were biologie and geography. And there it stopped because I was not allowed to go to a higher form of education.    I had to find a job, earn money, untill I would get married and have children, at least that was what my parents had decided.  A short time after those final exams I was kicked on the street and had to provide for myself. Thankfully my now husband helped me find a space of my own to live and I found a job to earn the so much needed money. Due to that I could not go to college ofcourse but in my job I’ve always had the opportunity to learn through courses etc.

Language is still my favorite and after joining ABC my writing skills in them improved. I learn so much from what you all write and I really love it.
Most contributors write in English, some don’t and I always love to try commenting in that other language. Except ofcourse for those who blog in English but speak an oriental language, that I don’t understand, it is so totally different to the languages I know.  The eastern (of Europe) and the Scandinavian languages I don’t speak/understand also ofcourse but I would love to learn it.

To me language is beautiful, not only in writing and words one can hear but also in what one can see in the expression of faces and in body. I know that my own language, Dutch, is very difficult for non-born Dutch, it also is for born-Dutch by the way. Syntax and grammar are so difficult to use in the appropriate way but still I love it. If only I could… I would fill my head with other languages so I can speak to everyone I want to, can read whatever I want to, understand it most of all. Language is a living thing and in what way ever… we can do without.

In my own languague:
Zo fijn je hier te mogen verwelkom.
Dank je wel voor je bezoek en reactie!

In the English language:
So nice to may welcome you here.
Thank you for your visit and comment!

Hello and good morning, -afternoon, -evening, dear people who all participate is this wonderful photo-meme, which is a joy to me, week after week, after week. I’m always curious to what you come up with!

The challenging letter of this week is K and I’ve chosen for: KOALA

Originated from eastern Australia, they nowadays can also be found in Europe but only in zoo’s. They feed solely on eucalyptus and eat appr. for 4 hrs a day, the other  hours they sleep. They never have thirst because of the moisture in the eucalyptusleaves. They mostly live in solitude and are also know for their sound, they make the sound that sounds very similar to the barking of a dog.
Early 20th century they were endangered but thanks to the effort of lots of people extinction was prevented, thankfully. They’re lovely looks had certainly something to do with that. The largest population resides on Kangaroo-island.

Generally there are 3 species of Koalas; Victoria-Koala, Queensland-Koala en de New South Wales-Koala. The Victoria-Koala has a thick darkbrown fur. The Queensland-Koala has a thinner (blue-gray) fur because it lives in a much warmer area. The New South Wales Koala (the most common version) has a gray fur. Koala’s are very good swimmers but don’t feel happy on the ground, and they are one of the very few mammals who don’t build nests. The young Koala has to stand on its own feet from aprox. 1 year of age.

The one on the photo lives in a Belgian Zoo, in Antwerp to be precise, which is a 3hrs. drive to the southe from where I live.
I photographed him/her last januari.

Hello and good morning, -afternoon, -evening, dear people who all participate is this wonderful photo-meme, which is a joy to me, week after week, after week. I’m always curious to what you come up with!

The challenging letter of this week is H and I’ve chosen for the word Hyena

The Hyena is one of my favorite wild animals. Although they are not particularly pretty they have that specific ‘something’ that appeals to me. This one I photographed some time ago and her snout is damaged so another word that suits today is hurt. I don’t know what has happened but I felt sorry for her. I couldn’t find a caretaker to ask so what went wrong will stay a mystery.

Hello and good morning, -afternoon, -evening, dear people who all participate is this wonderful photo-meme, which is a joy to me, week after week, after week. I’m always curious to what you come up with!

The challenging letter of this week is G and I’ve chosen for the word GROWTH

Although I was not part of this meme at his startingpoint I am sure it grew since Mrs. Nesbitt started it some 10 years ago.  Some participant are still on, others are not. During those years new participants showed themselves and are there every week, some not weekly but still on one way or the other regular basis.

ABC_Wednesday grew to a beautiful community of bloggers, not one like the other, totally different. Every week we may visit lots of blogs to see what that specific blogger has put in as the entry for the letter on hand. How wonderful is that?

As you all know, I hope, by now… this version of ABC-Wednesday is coming to an end but it does not stop!!!
It will continue on another location on the internet but many things will stay the same. For instance, it will stay a weekly challenge, it will stay on wednesday, every participant will get visits from teammembers, teammembers will keep on writing their intro’s.

Every week lately we have about 50 participants, sometimes less, sometimes more, who leave a link to their post. I am very grateful for that. I also hope that the change of location on the internet will not cost us participants. I do hope that the community will keep on growing and that ‘new’ participants find the way to us and take part in it.

If you would like to give us a hand?
Please promote this challenge on your blog, talk about it and spread the ‘egg’ to let it ‘get hatched’ to enthuse more bloggers to become a member of our ABC-Family. If we all work together we can make happen that this family grows and growth like this is something we all would welcome, or wouldn’t we? I, and the team behind me ofcourse, would love to welcome new/more participants and we are grateful for your continuing participation!
